The Grand FUNdo removes any racing aspects from the ride, but keeps all the pros and all of the fun. We have titled this ride a Grand Fundo, because it will be the most fun you’ll have on a bike this summer!

The Fundo is 64 miles and the course includes approximately 20 miles of dirt roads. No rider will be left behind and we will have an ice cream truck rest stop at mile 32, lots of support riders and a follow car with wheels. Immediately after the Fundo, we’ll retire for music, a bonfire and a pig roast which we hope you will stay to enjoy with us. The 2011 Grand Fundo is the latest event supporting the J.A.M. Foundation!

The Grand Fundo’s mission is to raise money for the J.A.M. Fund. The J.A.M. Fund is the brain child of professional rider Jeremy Powers (J), and J.A.M./NCC riders Alec Donahue (A) and Mukunda Feldman (M). The funds raised from the Grand Fundo go directly to supporting the J.A.M. Fund and helping riders in the Pioneer Valley to achieve their goals as cyclists and as people.

The J.A.M. Fund’s sole purpose is to help racers in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts who have a passion for cycling and the drive to better themselves do just that. Through racing and training, young riders develop key skills that may one day lead them to their own professional contract.

Either bike is great. We recommend slick tires, thorn resistant tubes and/or 25C tires to help prevent flat tires from happening on the dirt roads. You should have a seat pack to fix a flat if SRAM is unavailable for a wheel change.

“How hard is the ride? How long do you think it will take to finish?”
The Grand Fundo route isn’t that difficult. From miles 12-20 the course has some steep sections. But after that it’s mostly flat and rolls downhill the rest of the way back to Southampton. The dirt roads are maintained roads and are in great condition. Plan for four hours of ride time to complete the Fundo loop with almost no traffic.
